why is the society so sick??

In the current trend of living you would expect people to be more understanding..and they are to some extend.But they are still old-fashioned and ill-minded when it comes to the matter of some things.Its common to see people stare and point even now when a girl and boy who are nothing more than good friends walk by.Even as people are running behind development and modernization and stuff isn't it weird??Cant a girl and a boy be friends???
